Explore. Experiment. Experience.
Light is something you feel before you understand it. So we test it, before it’s built.
The studio and darkroom
Lighting design you can experience before it’s installed
Our experiential studio and darkroom bring lighting design to life through hands-on exploration. From testing fittings and lighting effects to discovering how light interacts with materials, textures and colour, it’s a space to experiment, question and deepen our understanding of light.
Designing for people
Designing for people, not just spaces
Our specialist understanding of light and human biology informs the way we design commercial and residential spaces. We consider daylight, intensity, spectrum, colour temperature, controls and the changing needs of people throughout the day.
We believe thoughtful lighting design is as much about respecting darkness as it is about creating light.
From concept to completion
Five stages, one lighting journey
We can support the entire journey or contribute our expertise at any stage.
01
Discovery & concept
We survey the space, listen to the brief and test early ideas.
02
Design & technical planning
Layouts, calculations, controls and specification.
03
Construction & procurement
We source and supply the fittings the design needs and coordinate on site.
04
Refinement
Mock-ups, aiming and scene setting until it works as intended.
05
Completion, handover & aftercare
We commission the scheme and stay on hand afterwards.
The art is in the detail
Design and supply, connected
Great lighting design doesn’t end with an idea. Working with clients, architects, designers and project teams, we bring together creative thinking, technical expertise and a shared vision, refining every detail through testing and careful specification.
As both independent lighting designers and specialist suppliers, we connect creative vision with the products needed to bring it to life.

What is a lighting design darkroom?
A darkroom is a blacked-out space where we test light fittings, effects, colour temperature and dimming on real materials, so clients and project teams can see how a lighting scheme will look before it is installed.
What are the stages of your lighting design process?
Our process runs through five stages: discovery and concept, design and technical planning, construction and procurement, refinement, and completion, handover and aftercare. We can support the whole journey or contribute at any stage.
Do you consider wellbeing in your lighting designs?
Yes. Our understanding of light and human biology shapes every design. We consider daylight, intensity, spectrum, colour temperature and controls, and how people’s needs change through the day.
Do you test lighting before it is installed?
Yes. We test fittings and effects in our studio and darkroom, and hold mock-ups on site where needed, as we did at the Royal Hospital Kilmainham.
Do you supply the lighting you design?
Yes. We are both independent lighting designers and specialist suppliers, so we can source and supply the fittings each design needs.
